I didn't take any pictures as everyone was armed with their phone cams blasting away, ask them for their CA adventure pics. We took San Fran by storm, but not as fiercely as did Cor or Lins, We only walked 1.3 miles strait up. I recognized some scrape marks on the side walk left there by my butt the first time there. the hills are no shorter and the people are jammed into every nook and cranny. The Warf was festive with out door musicians playing for change, some good and some not so good, but the bucket drummers got to be a little irritating. How long can you listen to someone beating on a bucket and some whiskey bottles? The sun was bright and warm in contrast to the wind off the bay so it made an enjoyable journey thro ugh humanity of the arts.
Got to go on a liberty/victory ship that was being produced at one every twenty four days!!! It was a generation of tough member jambers who would not take defeat as an option. O how times have changed. We got to talk to a merchant marine who sailed on one in his much younger days. You could see the pride. When I asked him about an odd placed free hanging chain latter I chuckled when I asked, "was that the emergency exit from the engine room?" He said, "Its not funny, if a torpedo blew out the side if the ship, that was the only way out." Like I said, tough old buggers.
Well I am coming home on the 5th to party and celebrate with the fam. Buy Anderson Erickson egg nog... lots of it.
