Rain and cold. I am looking for distraction. It usually come in the form of food as I sit and chew on a three day old pizza. It has been pointed out to me there are no veggies on it. I believe in a couple of days some will begin to grow on it.

I am counting the days till the 25th when I once again will be in Iowa. The bad part is I will be taken to Texas first. It may be better than Denver that time of year but it is still Texas.

I think I will help get Snake Hunter, Giz, and Tink qualified for Conceal and Carry Permits. Glock 9's all around for Christmas!

Is it time we start a Family School? I will teach Theology, Dog Math and comprehensive Anallise, Jes English, Willie physical torture, Rob how to dress to look good, Buck economics and business, and Sharon driving skills.

Field trips to CA to learn surfing and skiing. NW Iowa and learn how to skin and bone a dear in 3o minutes, noodle cooking, and Mule driving.

Fishey fishie in the brook

This is a film of the salmon run in the Feather River. It is reported that it is the best in years. The darker spots under the water are fish and there is a river full. A friend in the church went to the Sacramento river fishing with his grandson and these are the results! I am seriously thinking of getting a fishing licence!

It is hard to post when your life becomes as interesting as the pile of dirty clothes beside you bed. You recognize that they are there when they cause you to stumble on the way to the bathroom but the only interest would be wondering where you got that stain? A game could be born! Sort of the NCI of stains. In which fast foods place did this stain originate? Did I wear that shirt this week or last week? If it were last week it may have been Burger King but don't rush to conclusions. Wait! I have something to do the rest of the afternoon!!!

He is the cabin I stayed in the Rockies. You will notice that there are no power lines running into it or TV antennas! It was all mine for nearly a week and I loved every moment I was there. It was built by mountain man Bill who has since move to another cabin across the creek. Bill recently had a heart attack and lay on the floor of his cabin for three days until found by Mountain Man Perry, his neighbor and friend. Bill was taken to the hospital where he underwent bypass sugary and 12 days later when I met him he was trying to pull his compound bow to hunt elk that weekend!   Here are some of the amenities found at this slice of heaven. I have been to the creek and fetched a pail of water to heat on the stove for a bath. My daughter said I would no longer be fed at the main cabin if I continued to smell, so down the mountain I went to fetch a pail of watter. Now that might not seem much like a difficult task but water weighs 8 pounds a gallon and I had five and they all needed to be brought up the mountain about 300 yards on a very steep slope. Did I mention I am out of shape and the air is thin? I found some dish soap in the cupbord, heated up the water as you see below, and was the best smelling person at dinner!

 This was special, my own private bathroom! The ventilation was excellent, the view was breathtaking, and there was a great deal of privacy! The drawback was, in the morning she was a little chilly and the dew made her a little slick. The box was set so your feet were up hill in case of seepage so I was appreciative of the tree directly behind the box to stop you as you slid backward.

 MY FIRST TROUT!!!! Now I have always felt second class because catfish was the only fish I pursued. Catfish is the fish of cane poles, bare feet, bib coveralls, and bobbers. Trout are the target of fly rods, tied flies, wicker baskets, nets, and clear cold water in streams an ponds in high places. Not many opportunities like that where I grew up. The catch was carp, bullheads, and catfish; anything you can catch with a worm. BUT NOW I AM IN THE ELITE, ONE OF THE CHOSEN!!! I HAVE CAUGHT A BROOK TROUT!!!

SUNDAY O YEA. I will need to get up around 6 AM to drive to Live Oak on the scooter to get doughnuts for the worship service. Then to McDonald's to pick up some Breakfast Burritos for the baptism at 8 AM. We have three adult baptisms in the lake at 8 AM in supper cold water straight out of the mountains. Then home to shower and thaw, get dressed to hold worship at 10:30 AM. After Worship there is a congregational meeting and pizza party. Then home to pack for the CO. trip. At 5 PM I leave for Sacramento and drop the car off at the park and fly then hitch a ride to the airport. Fly out of SMF at 7:12 PM to PHX (sky harbor).  Leave PHX at 9:45 PM to Denver and land there on Monday 12:25 AM; take a taxi to the hotel and SLEEP!!!!!

It is blasting hot here again! Last night and this morning it felt almost cold as I rode my scooter to coffee! That's right .... I fixed the scooter myself. It now starts and there are no Oil leaks! Thank you NAPA who carries odd ball gaskets that no one but a Chinese scooter owner needs!

Got me some new Mountain Climbing boots! I am ready for the journey to ELK HUNTING HEAVEN! All the farmers at the coffee shop are jealous thinking I am going to shoot an elk.

Where will I be?

On the 19th of August I will fly into Denver where I will spend the night. The Newton family will pick me up and take me to "Rockey Mountain High Colorado" in the morning of the 20th. The Newtons and myself will play at the elk resort until the 25th where we will drive to Iowa. We should arrive no later than the 27th but most likley earlier. The 28th is the surprise party the rest of the family is throwing for Sharon and myself. Labor Day is not set yet but BBQ at the Anderson's will happen if we are not on the road to some destination sought out by Sharon. Then rest a couple of days and fly back to CA on the 5th. I will return to Iowa on Sept. 10 to spend some time in NW Iowa and attending the BVU Kappa reunion. I have no return ticket to CA so who knows!

It is soooooo stinkin hot here you can feel your skin sizzle. But I don't mind because at night it get down to the low 60's! I go to bed with the fan on, rolling in discomfort from cool spot to cool spot and awake shivering looking for a blanket. I love this place!

I haven't worked on the scooter because of the heat; it would be unbearable to ride anyway. No so bad when you are moving, but get caught at a long light and eternity passes by.

I am looking forward to Colorado in a couple of weeks, a little "Rockey Mountain High" is what I need. Wow ... just thought that I have been to Rockies, Tahoe, Redwoods, goldfields, ocean, and beach all in the last two months! I love this place!

Never caught the gopher, and after adjusting the valves on my scooter I have an oil leak so life is not all that it could be. O yea ... crap bird is back fighting with himself in my rear view mirrors of the mustang crapping all over the side of the mustang. Whit bird poop stands out on a black car.

I hope to ride back to Iowa with the Newtons for a couple of days then fly back to CA after the surprise anniversary party the children are planning. Should be a lot of fun!

I had my final chemo for this round today. Maybe being the final one makes me feel as well as I do. Anyway I am feeling OK now. I hope I will be good enough to work on my Scooter. I adjusted the valves on it so it would start and blew oil all over the ground. So .... I have to discover what I did wrong. I have taken all the fancy stuff of it and will not put it back on .... no need for it ... I will own a "rat" scooter and be proud of it. My last Harley turned into a "rat bike" when I dumped it a couple of times and the dog ate my seat. It never got washed and sat in the elements all year. I wish I had it back.

yea, it has been a while since I have been here but I have been to the land of corn and got back Saturday. It was hot there, it is hot here, I am tired of hot. It was good to have time with the fam but not enough sweet corn was consummed and there were no noodles!

Got back from the junction of Big River and Pacific Ocean. Layed on the sand next to the girl I did that with in Florida nearly 39 years ago. Ocean hasn't changed much, but she and I, well that is another story.

Boys had a great time with new found friends and swam in water that has been called the breading grounds for great white sharks. All fingers and toes are accounted for and no one seems pregnant.

Good Morning! I sit at the desk at the Harbor Light Hotel watching the fishing vestles move silently across the glass inlet water of the harbor. It is a calming effect to watch however, they are on their way to figh great surf, wind, rocks, and sea creatures that push you off the edge of the world into a vast somewhere known only to Peter Pan and the Lost Boys, Captain Hook, and Tinkerbell. Obama lives there with Joe Biden who are members of the Lost Boys. They will never grow up and wish that we all go to sea and fall into somewhere that is controled by the Lost Boys.

The Sea Creature seems to be the Lost Children wing of the Supreem Court.

I got tired of not hearing so I saw an add for this divice at Raido shaft and decided to give it a 30 day trial! I failed to read the instructions (I'm a Man) and put it on wrong. Realizing my mistake, I read the instructions and when you screw up and need to charge your ears the divice completly discharges the batteries before it will rechage them. To rechage them it takes 6 hours.

Now I sit and wait to see if they work!

Time for change

I decided to get into the tech. world big time and get a smart phone that has Siri. I took a technical advisor along so I would not be lost in big time phone language. I looked at the one that Buck recommended and it was a great tool .... but .... it was huge. It was half the size of my laptop. Good point, it would not be easily lost, bad point, you would need to carry an electric bill board on the side of your head to make a call. I settled for the I S4 and chose my shade of black. I went to pay for it and I had to answer electric multiple questions such as, do you own your own home? What bank has the mortgage? What do you pay a month? And a statement, you leased a car in 2010 with whom? The computer did not accept my answers so the sales person called ATT to get a person. The ATT person wanted two forms of ID so I gave my drivers licence and social security card. The ATT person then asked for my last pay stub and a recent utility bill. I announced that I was not applying for a home loan took my cards and walked out!!! What is going on in this world?????

My $10 tracfone is now on sale for $7.50.

Out of My Mind board

Here it is Memorial day and I am sitting in my office blogging. I am soooooo board I can't even explain my situation. I ride my scooter but there is no where to go. I don't believe it has the power to climb a mountain, so I am restricted to the valley. The valley is boring. There are casinos with buffets and I don't need that. I have the last chemo raging in my system so I am too tired to put the top down on the mustang. The sun would cook be like a smoked turkey and then I would be in even worse condition. I have patched my sailboat! I believe I will be on the water by this weekend! The gopher has won again. I need to get a better trap, those Chinese people can't engineer a decent rodent trap so I will go with a more expensive American made. I shall prevail!

The gopher has not attempted to seal the hole in which the trap lie, so today he has once again out foxed me. I am in no hurry as was Bill.

The sailboat is still damaged. Procrastination is thinking the project to death before you do it. My usual method is, do it .... then fix it to make it work.

The are arresting citizens today for "Red Suspenders Day" in Gridley. They post a bail and you stay in jail until some one bails you out. I am on the lamb. I don't have that many friends here.

Missed again

He is a relative of the "Caddy Shack" gopher. For days he avoided my trap, then tripped it by covering it with dirt. To my credit I am using a trap made in China that has a huge design flaw. When it is tripped the trip mechanism pushes the gopher out of the trap there by saving its life! I believe I need to rent "Caddy Shack" for a few tips.

I'm riding down 99 and my scooter starts sounding like a Harley! I think, Thank you God for transforming water into wine and a Chineese scooter into an American Harley! Then I realized my muffler had broken in half! Thankfully I found and old timer blackshith who knows a challenge when he sees one. His comment was, "There's nothing to weld to." I must have been my sad face that caused him to try any way .... And HE DID IT! Now I am quiet again. No more Harley ... yet!

It's me or him

I can't walk across the lawn because this gopher has, for years, been tunneling constantly. It is dry here most of the year so when mowing you can't see where you have been or where you are going, just large clouds of dust that Mr Gopher has caused by placing in my path mounds of dirt. The war is on!

I have never fiber glassed before so it may become a sub. Ordered a repair kit on line but no instructions came with it. Being a man .... I will figure it out ... or throw the boat away and hope no one asks where it went.

It is 5:30 Saturday Afternoon when my worship leader came into my office and said, "I need to resign!" My response was "When are you thinking?" He responds "Immediately, I have been thinking about this for some time and it isn't working out." My response "YOU HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT THIS FOR SOME TIME AND TODAY ON SATURDAY YOU TELL ME YOU WON'T BE HERE TOMORROW!!!! GIVE ME YOU KEY AND GET YOUR CRAP OUT OF THE OFFICE!!! WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO AMERICA? I GAVE A 22 YEAR OLD KID $250 BUCKS FOR 4 SONGS ON A GIVEN SUNDAY AT FIVE MINUTES A SONG. NO ONE INTERFERED WITH HIS CHOICE OR DECISIONS.

Something new in blogging ... don't they know I am old and hate change? What a louse week last week was. Monday I had to go to the Dr. Tuesday was a day off. Wednesday was Chemo. Thursday was sitting at a Presbyterian tribunal and loosing my medical insurance. Thursday more chemo. Friday a call from the board of Pensions stating I could not retire and continue working at Gridley. Saturday I was sick to the point of dog dung and spent the entire day in bed. Sunday I made it to church and spent the rest of the day in bed. My back is in such pain I can barley walk. And it is getting better!

Been riding my scooter just to aggravate the back pain and got a bee down my shirt. That was fun. I am wondering what all of this is about. I will find out when He tells me, until then I will be still.

What a difference a day makes! Feeling good today! Washed by bedding yesterday so the night's sleep was warm and cozy in my flannel sheets. Woke up this morning and boned two lamb shanks for the Maunday Thursday Sader Meal. Did this all in enough time to go to the Gridley Grill for coffee and breakfast, now at the office and all is well!

May be ride the scooter to the Buttes today! I am saddened however that my 97 Fatboy that has been for sale in town has been sold.

Had my second treatment Wed/Thurs ... slept from Sat 11 Am to this morning around 8:30 AM. I am not totally sick just totally uncomfortable and eat to make myself well ... that is a bad idea I have found.

Day Report

We left Gridley because of rain. We went south to find the sun an did in Monterey and it was beautiful. So what did we do???? we went inside a dark Monterey aquarium where the boys played video games. I spent the day looking for people. When the sun was about to set we got in the car a drove to Pebble Beach golf course. My bird crapped mustang looked comfortable in their parking lot! The fog rolled in last night and the boys thought it was smoke. They were terrified that the world was on fire.

Now I sit in a hotel room past check out time because Sharon left with my car. We are having fun now!

I hope to head for Gridley soon, my credit card needs a rest.

We chased the sun to Monterey! Great place if your rich but so much better than rain. We are in the bay where the waves are no larger than an Iowa lake but when you get to "Lover's Point,"the waves are 7' to 10' foot and crashing. I love it.

Me and the boys were thinkin it was a good day to ride. Here in CA we ride like the wind and rain, it is too bad our iron horse is so small, Logan looks silly on the handle bars.

That's right! I'm back in on the iron horse and ridin the thunder again. I wish.

This little sister will go 50 mph if I lay flat on the seat. It is street legal and gets 67 MPH! I have been riding it for two weeks and it has lowered my gas expenditure from 19 cents a mile to 6 cents a mile. It would be better than that but it is raining and cold. If I were riding thunder I would not let either bring a halt to the fun. This is a whole different style of riding. It causes no fear in those you whine by. I have a cigarette lighter in it, but I don't smoke. I am thinking radio power or GPS. I have no idea why, but it a fun thought.

Friday was the last of the three chemos and I was doing well. Saturday night things changed for the worse. Toughed through it and realized I had a problem of movement. Jammie Lee Curtis said if I ate three Activia's a day (So I did for three days) CVS softener one a day for three days, and some stuff that J recommended for three days ...... and ..... fasten you seat belts cause your not going anywhere for a while .... but with a smile!

They told me I could experience some insanity! No kidding, this stuff can cause a brain infection that whacks you out! Got Buzzed

Here is the report. Went to the hospital and the nurse took a look at me and refused to give me chemo. They had a big fight and the stand in Dr. said "light him up!" and gave me some high powered antibodies.

Here is the deal .... my white count is 22k. It was 24K two weeks ago SO IT WENT DOWN. When I came to CA the first time it was at 30K and the Dr. indicated I needed to make a decision. When I made the decision (or when Sharon made the decision) I was at 800k.

Walk in the Park!

Hey friends and neighbors! Well they said it would return and it did. They are going to light me up at 10 AM tomorrow with the same stuff they did last time. No hair loss, just brain drain. I am not looking forward to being picked and poked for 6 hours a shot for the next three days, but O WELL someone has to do it.

It was 17 degrees yesterday morning! I couldn't move from my bed with the electric blanket on 7. I waited for the sun to shine in the room to warm the carpet before I put my feet on the floor so I got to the office around 11 AM. I am a weeny .... I admit it ... I hate the cold. Back to work

It is my second day back to CA. I all ready miss being whacked with swords and shot with Nerf guns. I must say this was a great trip home even with the flue ravaging the family. Highlights of the Mule being fixed (thank you dog) way good birthday party (thank you Cdog big 9!) Grandma B leaving LG for a week (thank you ______?) It had to be an act of God. Cole taking a bullet from the air soft that isn't so soft .... sorry Cole! Snake Hunter .... will you grill grandpa? O yea! Wife being a nurse till she dropped ... thanks babe! Tink messin with my computer. Gab, NO TEETH! Gman about his business of business. And Bren's smile!
